Apple Scores a Preliminary Ban Towards Galaxy Nexus

It seems Apple's lawyers are at it again this time at Google's flagship. But what would Apple have against Google (Apart from Android). Well it turns out that its not Google, but the manufacturer of its flagship, Samsung. Apple and Samsung have a long history in terms of patent wars, and the same applies here. But the reason they're having a dispute is pretty dumb. And that is the Slide to Unlock mechanism, nevertheless Apple patented it first and has all rights to it. But you should be expecting Samsung to retaliate being the fact that it just became Google's flagship. But by judging Apple's track record it seems that they might win, since they already have given HTC a lot of trouble. And the Judge deciding the fate of the two companies thinks it's OK to halt the sales of the device and that its worth it. Well I'll have to argue with that, but until then stay tuned for updates.    

HTC One X Gets Jelly Bean, Unofficial Though

Just after a day of Google announcing Jelly Bean the devs at xda were able to port Jelly Bean to the One X. Based of the Nexus builds of Jelly Bean they were able to port it on to a "technically" unsupported device. Nevertheless its availible on your One X with a few draw backs, let me correct that, huge draw backs. No WiFi support, Audio, and Camera support, those are some pretty large features since the One X features the ImageSense chip. Even if you do flash the ROM to check out the features it won't work due to the fact that WiFi doesn't work. But if you are dying to see that cute Jelly Bean easter egg, by all means go ahead, but be aware of the risks.

Virgin Mobile Announces HTC One V and the iPhone 4 and 4S

It seems the popular prepaid mobile carrier has been getting some popular devices. Starting today the HTC One V ( the lowest end device of the the One series) is selling for $200. Now the specs of this device won't blow you away, but you do get ICS for a very low price since all these devices are off contract.But then again for $149 you could get a Galaxy Nexus. But for the iPhone users the iPhone 4 and 4S for $550 and $650 respectively. But for this price it doesn't really target the prepaid user so you may wonder if that retina display was worth it or not. But in exchange you do get the all you can eat data plan for $35 a month so that may off set the huge price tag.

Google announces Project Glass Explorer Edition for $1500

After a short interruption in the Google+ announcement followed by a skydiving hangout using the glass, Google announced Project Glass Explorer Edition, basically the prototype available to consumers, but not just any consumers only the ones currently attending I/O. The Glass will start shipping early next year. Price is a steep $1500, now at the announcement they said this is only for people who want to be on the bleeding edge.

Google's New Tablet, The Nexus 7 for only $199

The first Nexus tablet, a 7 inch slab from ASUS. Shipping with Android Jellybean 4.1, So lets jump in to the specs. Featuring a quad core Tegra 3 and a front facing 1.2MP camera, plus a 1280x800 display. Now what about availability? Shipping in mid-July, but already available today for pre-order. Plus you get your regular variety of goodies with a boat load of goodies. You get $25 of Google Play credit, and Transformers: Revenge of the Moon. You can expect a whole loaf of custom ROMs coming to this device due to the specs and the price much like the Optimus One which had a lot of developer support due to its price.

ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity Released!

Finally after being announced at CES its finally landing in the hands of consumers. Otherwise known as the TF700 this tablet is a step up compared to ASUS' Prime. With a starting price of $499 you do get a lot of bang for your buck, for example instead of a paltry 1280x800 screen this tablet has a resolution of 1920x1200 just like the Acer Iconia Tab A700. Plus you get a rear 8MP camera capable of taking video at 1080p and a front facing 2MP camera. Plus the Tegra 3 in this tablet will ramp up its clock speed to 1.7GHz when 1 core is being used and 1.6GHz when 2 or 4 cores are being used. The display being used on this is a Super IPS+ display so you can expect wide viewing angles, and vibrant colors. Plus the tablet ships with 1GB of DDR3 RAM, not the DDR2 found in most mobile devices. In Quadrant this device scored about 500 points more than the Prime, of course you could go out and buy the Acer Iconia Tab A700 for 50 bucks cheaper, but you'd probably have a better experience buying the TF700. But for users who already have the Prime there isnt much reason to upgrade rather than the faster CPU.

Galaxy SIII Gets Rooted!

xda has finally and quickly released a root for all of the Galaxy S IIIs in the US except for Verizon which supposed to come out next month. Now developers can get the full potential of this device such as overclocking the 1.5GHz CPU, the Skyrocket already been overclocked to 1.8GHz, so you can expect the same treatment for the S III. Plus this will pave the way for new custom ROMs which will optimize the phone much more and add new features. Of course you have the risks of rooting such as voiding the warranty, but the benefits out weigh the downsides.

Cricket Starts Selling iPhone 4 and 4S for $399 and $499

Cricket, a prepaid wireless network provider started selling the 8GB iPhone 4 and 16GB iPhone 4S for $399.99 and 499.99 respectively. Of course you cant just take the phone without a plan. Cricket offers Unlimited talk, text, and 2.3GB of data after which the carrier will slow down the connection. But is it really worth it? Sure its much cheaper than getting the device unlocked or getting it on contract. But from what I've heard their network is spotty due to the "piggy backing" on other carriers, and data can only be on their own network. In my opinion its better to get the device jailbreak then unlock it.

Acer's Long Awaited Tablet Finally Releases!

The Acer Iconia Tab A700 was finally released today featuring a quad core Tegra 3 clocked at 1.3GHz and 1 GB of RAM. With a rear 5MP camera and a 1MP front facing. The rear camera capable of taking 1080p video in MP4. Plus it contains 32GB for storage of course expandable via MicroSD. This system is the same Acer Iconia Tab A510 but with one major difference. The Screen. Yup the people at Acer were able to cram in a 10.1" 1920x1200 screen translating it to 224 ppi. Making it one of the highest resolution Android tablets out there. Only about 40 ppi away from the New iPad, so you can be sure to see everything crisp and clear. And it only costs $449. Though build quality may be questionable as it was on the Acer Iconia Tab A500 because it was so cheap, but you do get what you're paying for. Plus battery life may be affected due to all those pixels the tablet is pushing. The tablet is rated at 10.5 hours of battery life. Plus benchmarks wont be that impressive since the SoC will be spending most of its time displaying all those pixels. Then again for 50 more dollars you get access to Apple's huge ecosystem and and that high resolution display, but you're sacrificing Android's freedom for that. Still its one Android tablet that sticks out just like the Asus Transformer Prime did with its stunning IPS display and thin body. Then again you could wait for the Asus Transformer Prime Infinity...

A Look at Intel's Latest Game Changer

Well its about time Intel got their feet wet in the mobile space. After their first phone being delayed almost a year its finally here. Partnering with an Indian company named XOLO, they released their first phone in to the market; the XOLO X900. Running on an Intel Atom processor clocked at 1.6GHz, pretty generic right? Well what's different about this phone is completely unheard of in the Android ecosystem. Instead of running on ARM which is the standard for all Android devices. This phone runs on a x86 architecture which is basically the 32 bit architecture that some computers use. So this time when they say "pocket computer" it actually is.
